Artist Statement
In “Portales de la Memoria | Portals of Memory,” Zhang Sonera uses framing — natural and architectural portals — as a metaphor for traveling between time and geography.
Each image becomes a threshold that invites the viewer to look through, not only at the landscape, but also at the history that inhabits it. More than simple landscapes, these photographs are acts of memory — reminders of how places hold the traces of those who inhabit them.
