Artist Biography
Nettie Viera is a Puerto Rican painter and Chiropractor living in Indianapolis for over twenty years. Some of her paintings are displayed in a gallery format at her clinic for her patients and friends to view. Her genre consists of bold contemporary abstract, landscape, figurative, and still life. Her medium is acrylic, oi,l and mixed media. Her abstracts are vibrant, layered explorations of color, movement, and spontaneity.
Nettie is a member of Indy Latina Artists (ILA) and Indiana Vineyard Artist Community, IVAC. The past ILA art shows include a Debut Exhibition called “A Ver” at Saks; “Creaciones” at Maven Space, “Grande y Pequeño ” at Indiana Landmark Center, and “Ellas” at The Archivist. She has also done commissioned work for both decorative and religious purposes. While in her IVAC group, she had a solo art exhibition and is also involved in prophet art. She has taught painting classes, as large as fifteen people, and genuinely enjoys seeing others flourish creatively.
Nettie’s belief is that her creative expression allows her to delve deeper into her spirituality, aliveness, and grounding in her life.
Her continual search for balance and her mindfulness practice set the tone for her paintings, allowing her to stay true to her Latin roots.

Artist Statement
Nettie Viera is a versatile painter of abstract, realist, landscape, figurative, and mixed-media art. Her medium is golden acrylic paints, vibrant layered explorations of color, and impasto techniques.
The paintings in this series of the “Famboyan Tree”, “Ceiba Trees”, and the “Playa” are powerful iconic triggers for nostalgic memories and are integral to the essence of the island of Puerto Rico.
Nettie’s family was born in Los Coco’s in Quebradillas, PR. She and her husband are both Chiropractors and reside in Indianapolis, IN. They have two sons. When they retire, they plan to move to Puerto Rico.
